Tartu entrepreneur Jürgen Jürgenson has built Staatum, a web application that brings public data together so people can see the current state of the state wallet and take part in talk about its future.

He was struck by how much taxpayer money the state spends on IT solutions that, he says, one person could make in a week. He was also troubled that even decision-makers seemed to lack a clear view of how that money is used, and taxpayers still less so.

With the help of artificial intelligence, Jürgenson put the application together in a couple of weeks. Staatum is meant to turn scattered public figures into one picture of government spending.
