Journalist Sergei Metlev and columnist Viktoria Ladõnskaja-Kubits spoke on 19 October 2026 on the Kuku radio programme Venemaa kood. Metlev is editor-in-chief of Postimees’s Russian-language publications.

They discussed the effect of Ukrainian drone attacks on digital services in Russia and how effective Estonia’s measures are at limiting the spread of Russian propaganda. The broadcast addressed attacks on Russian data centres, with Metlev saying a full collapse has not yet occurred.

Metlev said Ukraine has for two weeks tried to hit data centres on Russian territory with drones. He said those centres keep various digital services available in Russia, from ordering food for home delivery to bank payments. He added that Apple Pay, familiar in Estonia, does not work in Russia because of sanctions, and that Yandex services are used instead.
